SHAVONDA MITCHOM
Shavonda Mitchom serves as the Director of Business Affairs for the College of Arts and Sciences at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In this role, she helps the College to navigate complex fiscal issues, while exploring new and innovative ways to manage responsibly the finances of the college and the university.
Ms. Mitchom is an alum of Illinois State University, having obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics with minors in Mathematics and Business Administration. She also has a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Ms. Mitchom has extensive professional experience that includes institutions of higher education such as Purdue University and Washington University in St. Louis.
She has also worked on the federal level assisting with bank examination and regulation for the U.S. Treasury, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Reserve Banks in Chicago and St. Louis. She enjoys teaching others about finance, spending time with family, and promoting natural hair to boost self-love and confidence in African-American women and girls.
DESTINEE GUICE
Destinee Guice is a second year communication studies major with a focus in language and knowledge construction, African American rhetoric, and racial injustices.
Upon graduating this May, Destinee will be employed as a diversity and inclusion trainer. Her daily mantra is "create your dream life".
Dr. ASHLEY HICKS
In the Assistant to the Dean for Student Services role, Dr. Hicks oversees undergraduate recruitment, orientation, and special events in the College of Business. She is also responsible for coordinating scholarships and advising the Business Themed Living Learning Community, Beta Gamma Sigma, Business ACUMEN and the College of Business Executive Council (COBEC).
Prior to joining the College of Business, Dr. Hicks coordinated and implemented diversity programming initiatives in the Dean of Students office at Illinois State for five years.
Dr. Hicks currently holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University, a Master of Arts degree from Ball State University, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Illinois State University.
In her spare time, she enjoys personal finance, yoga, and spending time with her family.
