Dr. Varma joined Illinois State faculty in 2009. His research interests include the areas of investments, investor behavior, financial planning and corporate governance. Dr. Varma’s publications have appeared or are forthcoming in several journals such as Financial Management, Financial Review, Financial Services Review, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Education, Journal of Financial Services Research, Journal of Personal Finance and Review of Behavioral Finance. His research has also been cited in the Wall Street Journal and has been abstracted in the CFA Digest.
Dr. Varma received his Ph.D. in Finance and M.S. in Statistics degrees from Washington State University in 2009. Prior to that he worked in the Premier Banking division of Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC). Dr. Varma obtained his Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from University of Delhi, India.
