Meredith Downes' teaching interests are in the areas of international business, international management and strategic management. Her research interests focus on international human resource management (specifically expatriation), regional economic integration, corporate governance, and foreign direct investment in newly industrialized and transition economies.
Downes has been the recipient of the University Research Initiative Award as well as the Outstanding Reviewer Award from the IM Division of the Academy of Management, and she has twice received the Alexander Technology Innovation Award in the College of Business. She serves on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Managerial Issues and has also reviewed for the Academy of Management, Academy of International Business, Corporate Governance: The International Journal of Business in Society, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management Education, Journal of International Management and the Society for Marketing Advances, as well as for several regional conferences.
Downes' publications have appeared in the Journal of Managerial Issues, Corporate Governance: The International Journal of Business in Society, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of International Management, Human Resource Planning Journal, Business and Society, Journal of Global Marketing, The Learning Organization, International Journal of Management, Career Development International, International Journal of Human Resource Management, International Journal of Value-Based Management, and Journal of the International Academy for Case Studies.
