Dr. Duleep Delpechitre joins the Department of Marketing and the Professional Sales Institute as an Assistant Professor, teaching in the Selling and Sales Management area. Prior to coming to Illinois State, Dr. Delpechitre taught at University of Louisiana at Lafayette and served as the Sales Center Director.
Dr. Delpechitre obtained his Ph.D. in Marketing, Master of Science in Consumer Behavior and Bachelor’s Degree in Selling and Sales Management from Purdue University. Dr. Delpechitre also has industry experience for more than 10 years in the financial and service industry.
His research interests include examining the salesperson-customer interaction to increase customer satisfaction and enhance salesperson performance, the influence of salesperson empathy, and understanding the effective use of technology in the sales force. Dr. Delpechitre has published in the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, Journal of Marketing Education and among other journals.
Dr. Delpechitre, and his wife, Dinusha have two children: Dihain and Daylia live in Normal, IL. He and his family love to visit Sri Lanka, their home country during the summer breaks.
