CMBA Program History

The Illinois State University MBA Program has an extensive history of offering Corporate MBA (CMBA) programs to central Illinois firms. The first Corporate MBA program was offered to employees of Illinois Power in 1994. Thirty-two students graduated from the first program in 1997.

In 1998, the second Corporate program was offered to employees of Archer Daniels Midland, Co., Bridgestone-Firestone, and Caterpillar. Twenty-two students graduated from this program in December of 2000.

The third program combined employees from Archer Daniels Midland, Co., Bridgestone-Firestone, Caterpillar, and Illinois Power.  Twenty students graduated in August of 2002.

The fourth Corporate MBA Program was offered in Decatur at the Archer Daniels Midland Co. Global Training Center with a total of 30 participants from ADM , Caterpillar, and several other smaller organizations.

The first on-campus Corporate MBA program began in January 2006 in partnership with the McLean County Chamber of Commerce. 27 students completed the program in the fall of 2008. The second on-campus Corporate MBA Program started in August 2008 and finished in December 2010 with a cohort of 32 students. Since then we have continued to offer the program on campus, with a new cohort graduating approximately every 2 1/2 years.
