Current Position: Account Executive at Lemme Insurance Group, Inc., which is a boutique brokerage firm located outside of Chicago. Lemme specializes in professional liability solutions for mid to large-size accounting, law and consulting firms.
Career Track & Achievements: Friedman is in her ninth month at Lemme as an entry-level producer. This position is helping to not only develop sales skills, but also is teaching Friedman more about the industry. In the future, Friedman is set on increasing her participation with some of Lemme’s larger clients and in new opportunities within the Top 100 accounting firms across the nation.
My Typical Day: Friedman tends to balance her time between prospecting new clients and servicing current clients. While prospecting new clients, there is a lot of marketing focus, specifically with mass mailings and cold calls. Other time is spent traveling to meet with select firms to discuss program options and/or to coordinate underwriting meetings. While servicing Lemme’s current clients, Friedman assists firms during the application process and works with the markets to secure coverage at a reasonable cost during the annual renewal process.
Why you should consider a career in Sales: Friedman believes that sales is a great outlet coming right out of school, even if it’s not your passion. The sales process can teach you a lot about your personality and how you interact with others. It will help you to grow and may also lead to larger opportunities within the industry or from the contacts that you meet.
How The Sales Program Helped to Prepare Me for My Career: The sales program was a great experience for Friedman, it taught her the details of the sales process and how to present herself to potential clients. It has also helped to increase her confidence in speaking engagements. The professors within the sales institute acted as mentors and gave unlimited opportunities to work with them, as well as valuable feedback while preparing for the NCSC competition. Friedman is certain that her experience within the sales program helped to put her in her current position at Lemme and that it will be influential in my many upcoming endeavors.
