Corporate Social Responsibility

Digital Accessibility and Inclusive Design in the Workplace

Wednesday| February 21, 2024
8:00 - 9:00 pm
Aaron Leech Stadium Club | Hancock Stadium

This year, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) teams joined forces to introduce a new event for the 45th annual Business Week. CSR involves taking responsibility for a company's actions and promoting a positive impact on society through initiatives with consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders, and the environment. EDI focuses on creating a workplace and society where everyone has equal opportunities, fair treatment, and feels included. Together, this collaboration between CSR and EDI results in an exceptional event, aligning seamlessly with the objectives and goals of Business Week in a way that is both engaging and informative.

This event will include interactive modules and the chance to hear from two speakers. Our first speaker is Glenn Harbin from State Farm, who has over 30 years of experience as a web accessibility engineer; he will break down what it's really like to have a disability and highlight what barriers can look like when using technology. Our second speaker is David Gill. David is the Director of all Facilities Planning, Design, and Construction here at Illinois State University. He will speak on the physical aspects of how accessibility is integrated into every aspect of our tangible life.

After the presentations, there will be more time to explore our interactive modules and network with our speakers. Our mission is to provide our attendees with a better understanding of how crucial both physical and digital inclusivity are, not only within the workplace but also within our world.
