Reverse Career Fair

 Welcome to the inaugural Reverse Career Fair for students interested in Consultative Sales Careers.

Each student will have a "booth" (a lunch table with a tablecloth) and employers will visit for 4 minutes, then rotate to the next booth, and so forth during the first two hours. The next 30 minutes are for employer appointments with students. YOU MUST embed a 'Signup Genius' appointment schedule link at the top of your Handshake resume.  Link provided in your "Welcome" message after you register on Handshake.

This initial year, we are accepting Juniors and Seniors only.  (Freshmen and Sophomores, plus Juniors & Seniors, are invited to our traditional career fair at 3 pm on this day, Oct. 8th. SEE Handshake for a list of additional employers attending the traditional career fair and to register your plans to attend so that employers can find your resume.

  • Awards
  • RSO
  • RSO Officer
  • Charity Service Time
  • Pictures
  • Are you an athlete
  • Intramurals
  • High school
  • Promote sales classes you've taken and plan to take.

Recruiters are interested in learning if you are competitive, disciplined, and coachable.  Use visuals like:

  • Trophies
  • Certificate of awards
  • Items from your:  Sport, Musical talent, Theater cast member
  • Do you speak a 2nd or 3rd language, as subliminal messages.

Be creative in choosing items. You never know what turns out to be a conversation starter. 

STEPS to complete seven (7) days in advance of the career fair:

  • Create a Signup Genius schedule with six (6) appointments starting at 12 pm and ending at 12:30 pm.
  • Embed the link to your Signup Genius schedule at the top of your Handshake resume.
  • Make your Handshake resume "Public".
  • Email resume to mboehm@ilstu.edu
  • Register on Handshake, you will receive a "Welcome" message and be asked to make your $10 registration fee payment to confirm your registration and booth.

Remember to arrive early to set up before the fair opens at 10:00 am
