Awards Application Options

Each year the College of Business and SLAB (Student Leadership Advisory Board) RSO co-sponsor the annual COB Student Involvement Recognition Ceremony to recognize College of Business students, Registered Student Organizations, and Advisors for excellence in student involvement.

Listed below are the awards that RSO chapters may apply for:

  • Small RSO of the Year

    This award recognizes the contributions student organizations have made to Illinois State University and the College of Business over the past academic year. The organization must have made a significant impact on the College of Business, as well as the Illinois State University campus community through their activities which reflect their mission as well as exceed their goals. This award is given to an RSO with membership of 25 members or less.

  • Medium RSO of the Year

    This award recognizes the contributions student organizations have made to Illinois State University and the College of Business over the past academic year. The organization must have made a significant impact on the College of Business, as well as the Illinois State University campus community through their activities which reflect their mission as well as exceeded their goals. This award is given to an RSO with membership of 26-49 members.

  • Large RSO of the Year

    This award recognizes the contributions student organizations have made to Illinois State University and the College of Business over the past academic year. The organization must have made a significant impact on the College of Business, as well as the Illinois State University campus community through their activities which reflect their mission as well as exceed their goals. This award is given to an RSO with membership of 50 members or more.

  • Innovation Award

    This award recognizes the student organization that has come up with the most beneficial and unique event or idea over the current academic year. The creativity of an event or idea will also be used to determine the award recipient. This award is open to all College of Business Registered Student Organization.

  • Most Outstanding Inclusive Program Award

    This award recognizes an organization that has demonstrated a strong commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment within their organization and across campus. It honors RSOs that host a series of programs and events that encourage understanding, connection, and participation among students. Resources (people, time, funds, materials, and marketing efforts) were used effectively in the planning and execution of events produced primarily by students. This program consists of multiple inclusive initiatives hosted by the organization during the current academic year. This award is open to all College of Business RSOs.

  • Most Outstanding Marketing Campaign Award

    This award recognizes an RSO that demonstrates exceptional achievement in developing and executing a comprehensive marketing campaign. It will honor an RSO that demonstrates creativity, strategic thinking, and effective execution in promotion across a variety of platforms. The recipient will stand out for their ability to capture attention, and drive engagement. Judges will assess a balance of innovation, visual design, cohesive messaging, and measurable impact. This award is open to all College of Business RSOs.

  • Most Outstanding Service Program Organization

    This award recognizes an organization that has demonstrated a high level of commitment to community service and outreach. It honors RSOs that actively engages with the community through meaningful initiatives such as volunteering, service projects, and partnerships with local organizations. Resources (people, time, funds, materials, and marketing efforts) were utilized effectively in the development and implementation of events produced primarily by students. This program entails a series of service and outreach events hosted by the organization throughout the year prior to submission. This award is open to all College of Business RSOs.

  • Most Outstanding Collaborative Program Award

    This award recognizes a program that was created and implemented as a collaborative effort between two or more organizations. Subject matter for the program can fall under: diversity/multicultural, academic/educational, service/volunteer, social/entertainment or philanthropic. Resources (people, time, funds, materials, marketing efforts, etc.) were utilized effectively in the development and implementation of the program which was produced primarily by students. This program could be a series of events or occurred one time. The event must have taken place over this current academic year. This Award is open to all College of Business RSOs. For this award, the collaborating RSOs must complete a joint application, with the presidents of all participating organizations signing off.

  • Rising Business Leader of the Year Award

    This award recognizes the contributions an underclassman member has made for their student organization at Illinois State University and the College of Business. Additionally, it recognizes their initiative, leadership potential, and commitment to their personal and professional development within the College of Business. The requirements are that the students will be in Freshmen or Sophomore standing and must be enrolled in an Illinois State University RSO. Students can only be nominated from a singular organization and are required to submit a recommendation letter.

  • President of the Year

    This award recognizes the contributions a president has made to their student organization at Illinois State University and within the College of Business. It also acknowledges their involvement and impact on the Student Leadership Advisory Board. The president must have made a significant impact on their respective RSO, the College of Business, and the ISU campus community through activities that reflect their mission and exceed their established goals. Each question will be answered separately, with each corresponding to its own section of the rubric. A letter of recommendation is also required. Presidents who started in the spring semester are not eligible for this award. To qualify, presidents must have served at least one semester or four months (whatever is shorter) on SLAB prior to the Gala.

  • Advisor of the Year

    This award recognizes an RSO that demonstrates exceptional achievement in developing and executing a comprehensive marketing campaign. It will honor an RSO that demonstrates creativity, strategic thinking, and effective execution in promotion across a variety of platforms. The recipient will stand out for their ability to capture attention, and drive engagement. Judges will assess a balance of innovation, visual design, cohesive messaging, and measurable impact. This award is open to all College of Business RSOs.
