The 2025 Edmondson-Miller/Katie School/CPCU Society Catastrophe Resilience Summit/ and CPCU European Open Market  will take place July 2-5. The Virtual part of this will take place via Zoom on July 2 and July 3rd.  The purpose of this summit is to expose specific catastrophe resilience topics, pose research questions that still need to be answered about the topic, answer questions, and provide guidance on sources for data that can help facilitate research. The purpose is to stimulate research on catastrophe resilience with selected papers to be presented at the 2026 Catastrophe Resilience Summit.  The Summit is free and academics, industry researchers, and industry practitioners  may find this valuable and interesting.

These are open to anyone interested but the purpose is to incentivize and attract research around various catastrophe resilience topics, with papers selected and funded to present in 2026.

Virtual conference features experts in various fields of catastrophe resilience exposing their topics, research ideas, data sources, and Q&A. These are open to anyone interested but the purpose is to incentivize and attract research around various catastrophe resilience topics, with papers selected and funded to present in 2026.

Format of Virtual Conference:

  • Expose a Cat Resilience topic.
  • Pose examples of important research questions related to the topic.
  • Provide data or at least provide guidance on where to find data to help with research.
  • Answer questions.

Topics include:

  • Optimizing ROI on Disaster Mitigation
  • Anticipatory Action and Insurance before the disaster
  • Blending Parametric Insurance with other catastrophe resilience efforts -Inclusive insurance and risk management
  • for the world’s most vulnerable populations.
  • Investment in infrastructure by the insurance industry.
  • Calculating Risk Adjusted Returns
  • Community Based Captives for Wind Loss
