2016 Young Leader Award Winner - Jake Timmins

Jake Timmons graduated from the Katie School of Insurance with a Bachelor of Science in Insurance and Finance in 2011. During his undergraduate career, he received the Alan C. Williams Leadership Award for his work with Gamma Iota Sigma as well as the Jack North Leadership Award from the Illinois State College of Business. Jake volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters and interned in Zurich, Switzerland as part of a Katie School International Internship. He began his career at Westrope as an Associate Broker before moving to RT Specialty to serve in the role of Vice President, Property Broker. Jake currently manages a team of fourteen individuals and a book of business in excess of $100 million in annual gross premium.

Additionally, Jake created and spearheaded the Gamma Iota Sigma Alumni Council which connects recent insurance graduates with young professionals working in their region. Since its inception in 2014, the GIS Alumni Council has grown to over fifteen chapters with over 500 members. Jake's own region, the Dallas Alumni Council, is currently working with Invest to connect insurance professionals with local high schools to promote insurance careers to young students.
